Reinstatement of teachers ordered

MIRPURKHAS, May 9: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has announced reinstatement of teachers sacked in 1998 and issued directives to the EDO, education, in this regard. He was holding a meeting with influential people of the area at the residence of Qazi Faizullah in Tando Jan Mohammad on Sunday night.

The chief minister said development packages would be approved for Tando Jan Mohammad to make it a model town.

He said the PML government was redressing people’s grievances at their doorsteps. He said development schemes had been launched throughout the province.

Later, speaking at a reception hosted by Mohammad Yunus Qaimkhani in the Jhuddo town, he said a cadet college would be established in Naokot Fort.

He said desilting of the Jamrao Canal and reconditioning and remodelling of the Mithrao Canal from Jhilori would be carried out next fiscal year.

He said sports grounds would be established at suitable places.

The chief minister also heard grievances of people at residences of Qazi Faizullah Sand and Liaquat Ali Arain.

He announced development schemes of roads, drainage, water supply and setting up of middle and high schools, mono-technical colleges and computer training centres.

He also announced Rs50,000 each for Digri and Tando Jan Mohammad press clubs.

Meanwhile, talking to journalists at the circuit house on Monday, the chief minister said education of Sindh had been destroyed due to copy culture and appointment of incompetent teachers.

He said the Sindh government was working to appoint only competent and hardworking teachers so that the education system of the province could be improved.

Answering a question, he said directives had been issued to officers concerned to provide protection to doctors and paramedics of the Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital.

He sought cooperation of people in improving working of government hospitals.

Dr Rahim expressed dissatisfaction over the working of the Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority and said it would be improved.

He also expressed dismay over performance of the Mirpurkhas taluka municipal administration.

He directed the DCO to furnish him details of development projects of Mirpurkhas so that the work could be started.

About reorganization of the PML in Sindh, he said he was satisfied with the progress.

Speaking at a public meeting in Zahidabad, Dr Rahim directed farmers’ organizations to ensure recovery of water tax by judiciously distributing water.

He said during his visit to Mirpurkhas, he had received complaints against farmers’ organizations and farmers. He said better management of canals and distributaries should be ensured otherwise the same would again be handed over to the irrigation and power department.

The chief minister directed the director of the Nara Canal to ensure that tail-end farmers received water.

On a complaint of farmers, he directed irrigation officers to open the Mari Minor.

He also announced repair and widening of roads of Jam Goth and Patoyoon town and widening of the Mirpurkhas-Tando Adam road.

Earlier, Zahid Khan Mari, along with others, announced joining the PML.

The chief minister also attended a reception hosted by people of the Mukhtiar Ahmad Khaskheli village where he announced construction of roads in three villages.
