KARACHI: Drug smuggler arrested

KARACHI, May 9: A team of Excise and Intelligence Karachi raided a flat in the Gulistan-i-Jauhar and arrested a member of a gang which used to smuggle heroin abroad by concealing it in the human body in the form of eggs and capsules. According to a hand-out issued here on Monday, Excise and Intelligence started a strict vigilance at Karachi Airport. On a tip-off a special team conducted the operation.

The arrested was identified as Syed Athar Hussain.

The raiding team also seized seven eggs and 80 capsules filled with heroin, 11 packets, and tools used in making eggs and capsules.

The arrested told the team that each egg contains 70gm heroin, capsule and packet contains 10gm. He further said a man or woman could swallow three eggs, 35 to 40 capsules and he or she was paid Rs30,000 to 40,000 for this. — PPI
