KARACHI: Sewage floods Lyari road

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 8: Sewage has been overflowing part of the D.D. Chaudhary Road and its adjoining areas in the Baghdadi Union Council area for the past two weeks, making the road impassable for motorists and pedestrians. The road is a link between Shah Latif Bhitai Road and Lea Market.

According to area residents, sewage has been overflowing from chocked gutter lines for the past two weeks with so far no remedial steps taken by the authorities concerned.

They complained that outdated sewerage lines frequently get chocked and standing water on the road was creating stinking conditions in the locality, besides becoming breeding places for mosquitoes and other insect vectors.

They feared that epidemic diseases could spread any time in the area if immediate remedial steps were not taken.

A press release of the Mohalla Committee said: “This is a daily problem. The area people are living in a state of disgust and agony.”
