ST CATHERINE (Jamaica), May 6: South Africa warmed up for their five-match One Day International cricket series against West Indies with a 29-run victory over a Jamaica XI at Chedwin Park on Thursday. Batting first after winning toss, South Africa racked up 245 all out off their 50 overs and then ruined Jamaica XI run chase by dismissing them for 216 in 46.2 overs.

In South Africa innings, in form top order batsman Boeta Dippenaar top-scored with 64, made from 74 balls and comprising nine fours and two sixes.

Wicket-keeper Mark Boucher, whose form has been below par on the tour so far, struck 59 from 72 balls with seven boundaries while Ashwell Prince scored 32 and Justin Kemp got 21.

Fast bowler Jermaine Lawson, who has not played for West Indies since 2003, was among wickets with four for 39 from his complement of 10 overs while off spinner Bevan Brown took for four 41 from his 10 overs.

When Jamaica batted, they lost opener West Indies player Xavier Marshall cheaply for 11 and captain Marlon Samuels run out for six but Tyson Gordon struck 70 from 102 balls with six fours and two sixes, to keep Jamaica on course for their target.

Bevan Brown again weighed in, this time with bat, striking a cavalier 37 from 26 balls including three sixes and one four, while Maurice Clarke got 23.

Leading Proteas pace bowler Shaun Pollock, who played his first match of tour in last Test, finished with four for 18 from eight overs in impressive spell while fellow fast bowler Andre Nel, who sat out last Test through injury, took two for 36 from seven overs.

West Indies will face South Africa in first two ODIs at Sabina Park on Saturday and Sunday.
