Asian U-15 team to play in Karachi


KARACHI, May 6: An Asian under-15 cricket squad will be arriving here on May 15 to play three matches with local junior outfits, the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) announced on Friday. The Asia Under-15 squad was selected on the basis of performance of cricketers from various Asian countries in the Asian Cricket Council Under-15 cricket tournament organised in UAE last month.

The tour is being organised by ACC to groom and give exposure to talented cricketers from new emerging Asian countries on the cricket horizon.

The Asian under-15 squad is: Karan Kumar, David Mathias (both from Bahrain) James Atkinson, Irfan Ahmed (Hong Kong), Navtej Singh (Kuwait), Mohammad Shafiq, Saravana Raj, Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Kasman (Malaysia) Dipen Shrestha (Nepal), Haroon Zahid (Saudi Arabia), Irfan Nasir Madakia, Prem Vashdev Dadlani, Jayanth Ganapathy (Singapore), Ashsih Malani (Thailand).

Former Pakistan all-rounder Iqbal Sikander is the team manager while Oman’s Mohammad Asim is the coach.

The visitors will play their opening two-day match against Karachi Under-15 team at the KCCA Stadium on May 16 and 17 and another match against Karachi Gymkhana Under-15 at Karachi Gymkhana on May 22 and 23 before departing for their respective homes on May 24.

Another match will be played on May 19-20 for which the opponents and the venue are being worked out.—APP
