Three outlaws killed

RAJANPUR, May 6: Three outlaws were killed and two constables were injured on Friday morning in an encounter in Darakh, the katcha area of Indus river in the limits of Mithan Kot police station. Acting on a tip-off that some outlaws were present at their hideout, DPO Maqsoodul Hasan constituted a raiding team comprising Sadar SHO Chaudhry Fiazul Haq, Mithan Kot SHO Muhammad Ayub Lodhi and Fazilpur Syed Irshad Husain.

The raiding team along with a heavy police contingent besieged the hideout housing the outlaws. Getting wind of the police presence, the outlaws opened fire on them. The police also returned the fire, killing three dacoits instantly. During the shootout, two constables — Muhammad Tariq and Muhammad Asghar also sustained injuries. They were shifted to the DHQ Hospital, Rajanpur, where their condition was stated to be stable.

The deceased outlaws were identified as Muhammad Ansar, Imam Din and Muhammad Akram alias Akri Gopang. Their bodies were shifted to hospital for autopsy.

Police said that deceased outlaws were involved in 31 cases of murder, dacoity, kidnap for ransom and other heinous crimes.

The Rajanpur DPO announced the cash prizes of Rs5,000 each for injured constables, besides being promoted them to head-constables.
