President, PM congratulate Blair on victory

ISLAMABAD, May 6: President Gen Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri have congratulated British Premier Tony Blair and his Labour Party on a third consecutive victory in the election, according to the foreign office. In his message, President Musharraf extended heartiest felicitations to Mr Blair and said: “It is a testament to your leadership and statesmanship which is highly valued not only in Britain but also around the world.”

President Musharraf said he looked forward to continuing working with Mr Blair for further strengthening excellent Pakistan-UK relations and promoting the cause of international peace and stability.

Mr Aziz in his message said he was pleased to congratulate Mr Blair on the unprecedented victory of his party in the general election which manifested profound trust of the British people in his leadership.

He said he is confident the two governments would continue to work together for strengthening the close and cordial relations between Pakistan and the Great Britain and enhancing multi-faceted bilateral cooperation which bore indelible imprint of Mr Blair’s valuable contribution.

Foreign Minister Kasuri expressed happiness in a message of felicitations to his counterpart in Britain and said he was looking forward to continuing working with Jack Straw to further build upon the trust and close relationship the two countries had developed over past few years.
