KARACHI: Students seek SPLA’s help against privatization

KARACHI, May 6: A delegation of female students of Govt. St. Joseph’s College for Women Karachi called on Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) on Friday and sought their assistance in struggle against denationalization of their college by the Sindh education department.

The delegation also handed over a document signed by over 1,000 students against the denationalization of government colleges and handing them over to the Catholic Education Board.

According to the appeal signed by the female students, they had acquired admissions on merit and selected a government college on their will but government without consulting them, handed over the college and its students like saleable commodity to the Christian missionary.

They said teachers were asked whether they wanted to continue their government jobs or not but students were not consulted.

SPLA office-bearers assured the delegation that they would convey their grievances to the concerned quarters and would do their best to halt denationalization of their educational institute. — PPI
