LAHORE, May 5: Five goals by Dhruvpal Godara and four by Iftikhar Ali Khan Simba steered PIP Group to a 13-4 win over Four Tigers in Novices Cup polo on Thursday. The winners scored four goals in a row to eliminate the losers’ two-goal handicap lead (4-2) in the first chukker. Zeeshan Asaf scored a field goal off a fine pass from Iftikhar.

Godara converted a 60-yard penalty for his first goal. He struck the second goal off Iftikhar’s pass before completing his hat trick.

Iftikhar scored his first goal soon after Godara contributed his fourth. Iftikhar was again on target scoring back-to-back goals. Godara pumped in his fifth and final goal.

For the losers Junaid Ahmad scored their first goal in the dying minute. Junaid struck his second goal in the beginning of the third chukker to reduce the margin 9-4 but PIP hit back scoring back-to-back goals through Ibrahim Pataudi, who scored three goals and Iftikhar who managed to score his fourth goal to take 11-4 lead.
