KARACHI, May 5: Pakistan failed to make into the final of Bridge Federation of Asia and Middle East (BFAME) bridge championship in Dhaka after disastrous performances in the last two league rounds, losing to India and Jordan. According to information provided by Pakistan Bridge Federation (PBF) on Wednesday, Pakistan lost important penultimate league match 0-25 to reigning champions India.

In the 12th and final league match, Jordan outplayed Pakistan 23-7 to reach the final. Earlier on Tuesday, lowly-rated Sri Lanka held Pakistan to a 15-15 draw. India emerged as leaders with a score of 274 Victory Points (VP), while Jordan were second with 256.15 VPs and Pakistan got third position accumulating 228.5 VPs.

After failing to reach final, Pakistan have also failed to qualify for this year’s Bermuda Bowl World bridge scheduled to be held in Portugal in October/November. Pakistan women’s team, however, reached the final after collecting 268 VPs, securing second position behind leaders India who piled up 291 VPs. Jordan finished with 266 VPs.—APP
