By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 4: A special prosecutor of National Accountability Bureau was shot dead by unknown persons in Korangi on Wednesday morning. Police said that Amanullah Khan, 53, was going for work from his house in Darul Salam Society Korangi Road in his car with his nephew when two people on a motorcycle intercepted their car close to his residence.

Police said that one of the attackers came in front of the car and fired four shots at Amanullah Khan. His nephew Waqas, 18, escaped the ambush with a minor injury in his neck.

A senior investigator told Dawn that the assailant after opening fire at Amanullah signalled a car present in the vicinity. “This gesture indicates that hired assailants were used in the killing,” investigator said. CCPO Tariq Jamil told Dawn it was a target killing and police are investigating the case, according to initial findings it might be result some personal enmity. However it would be premature to reach any conclusion at this stage as others aspects are also being looked into by the police, the CCPO added.

DIG Investigation, Manzoor Mughal said that sketch of the suspect had been prepared with the help provided by the Waqas. Police are looking into the cases handled by the deceased as part of the investigation.
