SWABI, May 4: Public transporters have increased fares on different routes in the district without approval from the authorities concerned. Commuters said on Monday that the transporters had increased the fares by at least Re1 after their recent strikes and increase in oil prices.

The coach owner operating on the Swabi-Mardan route have increased the fare from Rs7 to Rs9 between Shewa Adda and Swabi and from Rs22 to Rs25 up to Mardan.

The unauthorized increase in fares also caused scuffles between commuters and conductors at some places.

The fare from Swabi to Rawalpindi has been increased from Rs60 to Rs65. The fare from Topi to Rawalpindi has also been increased.

Fares of the pick-ups plying on the Swabi-Shewa Adda, Gadoon-Topi, Shewa Adda-Shewa, Swabi-Jehangira, Swabi-Zaida, Topi-Marguhaz, Swabi-Topi and all other local routes have also been raised.
