RAHIM YAR KHAN, May 4: Electric goods of Mepco worth millions of rupees were reportedly recovered from the shop of a dealer of second-hand articles. On the report of Rahim Yar Khan Mepco assistant-manager Abdul Wahab Burara, Saddar police have arrested dealer Jammat Ali of Chak 27-NP after investigating another junk dealer Maqbool Ahmed.
Maqbool told the police that he used to sell Wapda goods to second-hand dealers after purchasing from line superintendents Sajid Chohan, Riaz Khan, Asim Iqbal, Ahsan, Aasif, Mudassar, Qamar Zaman and lineman Umer Farooq.
Police said the Mepco highups had formed an inquiry committee which would complete its report within 10 days. Thereafter, police would arrest the officials.
INQUIRY: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has started an inquiry against Tehsil Municipal Officer Sadiq Taimoor Bhatti for allegedly receiving bribe.
A UK-based Pakistani, Kamran Malik, told journalists at a press conference that the TMO had demanded Rs100,000 for commercialization of his plot and he paid Rs50,000, but later Mr Bhatti refused to recognize him and did not approve the map.
When contacted, TMO Sadiq Taimoor Bhatti said Kamran Malik had constructed shops on his residential plot without approval of the map and termed the allegations baseless.
