SADIQABAD, May 4: Strict security measures were ordered on Khanpur-Rohri railway section to avoid any eventuality or terrorist activity. According to sources, railway authorities have decided to run pilot trains prior to the departure of all mail and express trains on the section.

Round-the-clock patrolling of the section was also ordered. The patrolling squads would be equipped with the latest system to contact the control room in case of an emergency. It was further learnt that police had arrested some suspects in connection with the railway-line blast and were investigating.

ARRESTED: Eight alleged members of an inter-provincial gang were arrested in connection with the theft of 600 sugar bags loaded from Hamza mills, Jetha Bhutta, Khanpur. A Peshawer-bound truck (PRO 7071) carrying sugar consignment from Hamza mills some months back was taken away by some armed persons near Tarindah Mir Khan.

Rahim Yar Khan Saddar SHO Rana Saeed Ahmed, who was appointed investigation officer by DPO, arrested Khair Din, Saleem, Qutubudin, Ishaque, Bazar Khan, Ghulam Nabi, Akram and Abdul Ghaffar, recovering the sugar consignment and the truck. — Correspondent
