Major reshuffle in Bureaucracy


ISLAMABAD, May 4: The federal government on Wednesday approved large-scale changes in bureaucracy. According to a notification of the establishment division, additional information secretary Shahid Rafi has been promoted to grade 22 and made information secretary.

Similarly, overseas division secretary K.B. Rind has been appointed chief secretary of Balochistan after being promoted to grade 22.

IG Sindh Asad Jehangir and IG NWFP Riffat Pasha have been promoted to grade 22. Both will retain their present offices.

Acting secretary of the narcotics control division Zaheer Khan has been made an OSD.

Lt-Gen (retd) Syed Abdul Ahad Najmi has been appointed federal service commission member for a period of five years.

Sindh Chief Secretary Aslam Sanjrani has been promoted to grade 21 and made overseas division secretary; additional secretary commerce Syed Asif Shah promoted to grade 22 and appointed secretary of information technology, additional interior secretary Ismail Hussain Niazi has been promoted to grade 20 and appointed narcotics control division secretary.

Additional secretary Mohsin Hafeez, currently posted at Aiwan-i-Sadar, has been promoted to grade 22. He would continue to serve there.

Additional secretary at the Prime Minister’s House Abdul Rauf Chaudhry has been promoted to grade 22 and appointed housing secretary; acting secretary of Kashmir affairs division Rasool Bakhsh Baloch has also been promoted to grade 22 and made secretary of Kashmir affairs division.

Sohail Safar has been promoted to grade 22 and appointed secretary of women affairs; Sabtain Fazal Azeem who is posted in Punjab has been promoted to grade 22. Suleman Siddique has also been promoted to grade 22 and both will remain posted in Punjab. Additional secretary of industries and production Suleman Ghani has been promoted to grade 22 and made industries and production secretary.

Secretary ports Fazlur Rehman has been transferred and appointed Sindh chief secretary.

Balochistan chief secretary Major (retd) Naeem Khan has been made federal secretary of special education in place of Sheikh Aleem Mehmood who has been made OSD.

TCP chairman Masood Alam Rizvi has been appointed secretary textile ministry.

Information technology secretary Khalid Saeed has been made secretary economic affairs.

Housing secretary M. Jamil has been appointed minorities’ affairs secretary while acting secretary of minorities’ affairs Ghias Din Ahmad has been made OSD. — APP
