KARACHI: Bandits kill watchman, loot cash

KARACHI, May 4: Bandits shot dead a man when he offered resistance in handing over the money he had drawn from a bank in Jauharbad on Wednesday.

Two bandits on a motorcycle intercepted Abdul Hakeem Khan, 60, when he was returning from a bank branch after drawing Rs35,000 on Wednesday.

Police said that the bandits demanded the money at gunpoint but he offered resistance. They shot dead Hakeem Khan and escaped with the money, police added.

The deceased was a watchman employed by one, Mr Jawwad, who had sent him to the bank to draw the amount. Hakeem’s body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem examination.

DIES: The injured Muttahida Qaumi Movement activist, Mohammad Mohsin, 25, died on Wednesday at a private hospital in Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

Mohsin had sustained injuries in an armed attack by unknown assailants on at his taxi in the limits of Mobina Town police station a few days back. He had been rushed to the Patel Hospital where he died on Wednesday.

Following his death, angry youth in some parts of Gulshan-i-Iqbal forced shopkeepers and traders to stop their businesses.
