KARACHI: Muslims advised not to adopt western views: Seerat conference

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 4: Speakers at a provincial conference expressed the view that Muslims did not need to espouse any western or European thesis to appease those blaming them to be deficient in any panacea for the mankind at large.

The main sources of Islam are Quran and conduct and saying of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which preaches and referred ways to attain peace and prosperity. The last pilgrimage sermon by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the unparalleled Magna Charta of human rights which guaranteed patience, sacrifice, love and open-mindedness needed for peace in the world, some of the speakers mentioned.

The conference on “Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH)” was organized by Anjuman Asatiza Uloom Islamia Colleges, Karachi, at Jinnah University for Women here on Wednesday. Two sessions were held during the day, which were presided over by Sindh Sports and Culture Minister Qamar Mansoor and City Nazim Niamatullah Khan respectively.

According to chief organizer of the conference, Prof (Dr) Salahuddin Sani, 39 research papers in Urdu, Sindhi, Arabic and English were received from subject experts and scholars from Karachi, Ghotki, Larkana, Hyderabad, Shahdadpur and Jamshoro for the conference. He told the gathering that the conference was going to be held as major event of the teachers’ association on regular basis in Rabi-ul-Awwal in future.

Brig (retd) Fayyuz-ur-Rehman said that Seerat (SAW) should not only be celebrated once in a year but should also be adopted by Muslims, as it not only went together with the teachings of Quran but also provided complete moral code to the faithful for practicing in all walks of lives.

He said that the Prophet (PBUH) had always promoted the moral goodness and righteousness. The Ummah could overcome their critics if they adopted and implemented the Seerat in tier cases, he added.

Maulana Saeed Ahmad Siddiqui said that urged the Muslims to present themselves as the true followers of the prophets and utilize all their intellect and insights to defend their civilization and religion. He said that building of a moderate and enlightened Islamic society was possible only when freedom of individuals was secured and each Muslim was allowed to think or act up to the extent that he or she did not cease the rights and freedom of others.

Maulana Asad Thanvi said that in present scenario, Muslims had become oppressed and victims of neglect and conspiracies, which should be checked. “We must see and examine the enlightenment and moderation factors in the light of Seerat (SAW) and must not succumb to the foreign pressures or European philosophies,” he added.

Sindh Sports and Culture Minister Qamar Mansoor said that it was the joint responsibility of Muslims to spread the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

“We can get our lost prides only after emulating the life style of the prophet and strike a balance between our hearts and acts,” he added.

City Nazim Niamatullah Khan said that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) worked with a missionary zeal to improve the status of society by bringing reforms in minds and practices of people. The Ummah facing modern day challenges was needed to revive the forgotten mission of the Prophet by spreading love and care for humanity.

Among others, Prof Mahmood Hussain Siddiqui, Prof Waseemuddin, Bushra Beg, Prof Surrayia Qamar, Maulana Mohammad Umer Sadiq, Sheikh Muhammad Salfi, Prof A.K. Shams and Prof Sarwar Hussain Khan also spoke at the conference.
