KARACHI, May 3: With two more rounds to go in the Bridge Federation of Asia and Middle East (BFAME) championship at Dhaka, Pakistan enjoys a slender lead, according to Pakistan Bridge Federation (PBF) on Tuesday. After a wonderful performance on Monday, Pakistan was held to 15-15 draw by hosts Bangladesh after getting a bye in the morning session match with 18 points.

Pakistan had accumulated 207.5 Victory Points (VPs) followed by Jordan 207.15 VPs and reigning champion Indians 204 VPs. Pakistan comprise Khalid Mohiuddin-Hasan Askari, Hamid Mohiuddin-Ziaullah Baig and Muhammad Ismail-Mubashir Puri.

Earlier on Monday evening, Pakistan whipped Sri Lanka 19-11 but later went down 13-17 to Jordan. Top two teams after the triple round robin league will qualify for the finals, which will be played over 100 boards played for two days.

PBF Secretary Ashfaq Tola did not sound happy with a crucial draw against Bangladesh today. “It was setback for us because Pakistan had to play two tough round matches against Jordan and India,” he said. Among the ladies holders India lead with 238 VPs. Pakistan are placed second with 229 VPs and Jordan third with 219 VPs.—APP
