Gul, Akhtar sparkle


KARACHI, May 2: Gul Mohammad cracked a brilliant century and paceman Akhtar Waris grabbed six wickets as Asifabad CC routed New Karachi Rangers CC by 166 runs in the KCCA Centenary inter-club cricket tournament at the Asifabad ground on Sunday. Gul Mohammad’s solid knock of 118, laced with nine fours and two sixes, propelled Asifabad Sports to a mammoth 308 for five in 40 overs. Then it was Akhtar’s turn to slice through the New Karachi Rangers CC batting in a fiery spell of six for 28 as the losers were bowled out for 142 in 22 overs.

Meanwhile, at Landhi Friends ground, New Paramount CC defeated Orient Star CC by 99 runs and at NUG ground, Baldia Sports scored a close three-wicket victory over Ravi Gymkhana.
