KARACHI: Hasan Adil passes away

KARACHI, May 2: Well-known educationist and founder of the National College Hasan Adil died after a long illness on Monday. He was 90.

Born in Bareilly, Mr Adil went to Aligarh University for higher education. He migrated to Pakistan in the early 1950s and embarked on a teaching career at the Islamiya College.

He joined the Jinnah College as principal in 1954 and formed a team of competent teachers. Two years later, Mr Adil established the National College at a rented place in PECHS. The college moved to its present premises in Hussaini Housing Society in the early 1960s when the Karachi Cooperative Housing Societies Union gave a two-acre piece of land.

Mr Adil was obliged to leave the National College after the nationalization of educational institutions in the early 1970s. Undeterred, he established in the National School in Gulshan-i-Iqbal shortly afterwards.

Mr Adil was buried at a graveyard near the milk plant in Gulshan-i-Iqbal. He is survived by a daughter. Soyem will be held on Wednesday between Asr and Maghrib prayers at 24, Hyderali Road, Rohail Khand Society.
