Railways capture judo crown

LAHORE, May 1: Railways with 35 points won the first national women judo championship at the Railways Stadium on Saturday. Police scored 22 points to claim the second spot while Punjab with 17 points secured the third slot. Six teams namely Police, NWFP, Railways, Sindh and Punjab participated in the championships. The secretary, Pakistan Judo Federation, Mahmood Naveed said that the players who claimed gold and silver medals would be considered for camp training to prepare them for Islamic Games for women to be held in Iran this year.

40kgs: Saima (Railways), Zakia (Sindh) Seena (NWFP).

44kgs: Mariam (Punjab), Nabeela (Railways), Amaraa (Sindh).

48 kgs: Ambreen (Punjab), Shakeela (Railways), Sundas (Sindh). 52 kgs: Rukhsana (Railways), Beenash (Police), Sonam (Punjab).

57kgs: Shagufta (police), Humaira (Punjab), Zohra (Railways).

63Kgs: Bashiran (Railways), Saima (Police), Sumaira (Punjab).

70 kgs: Asia (Railways), Samia (Police).

78 kgs: Irum (Police), Salma (Railways), Raheela (Punjab).

Open weight: Bashiran (Railways), Irum Police), Afshan (Punjab).
