PESHAWAR, May 1: NWFP Governor Khalilur Rehman has asked the intermediate and secondary education boards of the province to make efforts to improve the examination system.

He was speaking at a meeting of the chairmen of the BISEs, which was attended by Education Minister Maulana Fazal Ali and Schools and Literacy Department secretary Amjad Shahid Afridi here on Saturday.

The governor said education was a subject which demanded constant efforts to enable the nation to keep pace with modern world. He said that utmost transparency must be maintained in the examination system.

Mr Rehman appreciated reduction in fee by the BISEs, saying the decision would be of great help to students.

Responding to a proposal to expand the indoor facilities for examinations in schools, the governor said concrete steps required to be taken in this respect.

Referring to the regulatory role of the education boards, the governor desired that the inspection process of the education institutions should be based on solid grounds and both the available infrastructure as well as the academic facilities should be taken into account in this respect.

Earlier, the governor was briefed about the working of the BISEs as well as the facilities being offered by them to the education institutions and students.
