Two get life-term in kidnapping case


PESHAWAR, April 30: A local court here convicted two accused in a kidnapping for ransom case and sentenced them to life imprisonment and confiscation of their movable and immovable properties.

The Additional Session Judge Mohammad Jamal Khan on Saturday awarded sentences to Jamrooz Khan alias Sheinay and Nabi Gul, residents of the Bara, Khyber Agency.

The accused had kidnapped Sheheryar Khan (15), a student of University Public School (UPS), Peshawar on May 29, 1998 and demanded Rs 753,000 ransom.

ARRESTED: After the rejection of a bail application by the court of Additional Sessions Judge, accused Riaz Khan, charged in a murder case was arrested from the court premises here on Saturday.

The judge Rajab Ali Khan acceded to the arguments of the prosecution and dismissed the bail request for confirmation.

Riaz with his three brothers were accused of gunning down Fazle Subhan, resident of Kagga Wala and injured two others on Sept 30, 2004.—APP
