Three ‘Bosan gang dacoits’ killed in encounter: Two policemen hurt

VEHARI, April 30: Three members of the Bosan dacoit gang were killed while two constables were injured in an encounter at College Town area here on Saturday. Seven members of the gang had killed constable Afzal and injured constable Shabadar and Shabbir when they tried to stop them at a check post at Uch Sharif police station area about a week back. After receiving an information about the presence of killers in Vehari, a police team of Uch Sharif had also reached here two days ago.
The Bahawalpur police collected information about the gang from one of their men arrested from Rawalpindi. He informed the police that outlaws had been living in a rented house at College Town for the last four days.
At this, Vehari DPO Mukhtar Ahmed Tikka formed a police party who along with the Bahawalpur police raided their hideout on Saturday. Seeing the police, the outlaws opened fire on them. The police also retaliated. Later in some 45 minutes of shootout, three dacoits were killed while four others managed to escape. Two policemen — Sajjad Bashir of Ahmedpur and Abdul Ali of Noshera Jadid also sustained injuries. They were admitted to the local DHQ Hospital. Till the filing of this report, the police could identify two killed dacoits as Ghulam Farid and Rashid.
Injured Bashir said that the dacoits were involved in dozens of incidents of dacoity, rape, murder of policeman and kidnapping.
THREE KILLED: Three people, including a woman, were killed in different incidents here on Saturday.
Some unidentified dacoits entered the house of Irfan at Chak 7/WB and killed his wife Samina Kausar with a cold steel on resistance. Later, the intruders escaped from the scene.
In the second incident, an unknown man shot dead a 38-year-old person at Chak 84/WB when he was going home.
The third incident occurred at Chak 41/KB when three motorcyclists intercepted youth Abbas and tried to snatch from him a cell phone. For holding them out, the outlaws shot him dead.
