By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, April 28: The Ministerial Committee on Disposal of Cotton has directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) to issue the next tender immediately for local and foreign sale of cotton.

The decision was taken in the meeting headed by Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan here on Thursday. The meeting was attended by Minister for Industries & Production Jehangir Khan Tareen, Minister for Food and Agriculture Sikandar Hayat Bosan and Minister for Textile Industry Mushtaq Ali Cheema, Secretary Commerce Tasneem Noorani and TCP Chairman Masood Alam Rizvi.

The committee directed the TCP that subsequent tenders should be issued at regular intervals so that the cotton was made available to the local industry and for export without interruption.

The committee reviewed the progress of disposal of cotton by the corporation and expressed its satisfaction on the local and foreign sales against its first tender in which the TCP was able to sell 58,500 bales against 60,000 bales offered for sale.
