LAHORE, April 27: The draft of the much-awaited new constitution of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was handed over to the board on Wednesday. Justice Karamat Nazir Bhandari, the chairman of constitution commission presented a copy of the new draft of the constitution to the PCB Chairman Shaharyar M. Khan.
Mr Bhandari apprised the PCB chairman about the salient features of the constitution.
Mr Bhandari started the work on constitution on Sept 1 last year. The PCB is running on ad hocism since 1999.
The previous chairman Tauqir Zia could not restore the constitution during a long tenure of five years. The last date for the completion of the constitution was given to the Senate Standing Committee on Sports by the PCB was April 30.
“In doing so (handing over the constitution to PCB) Justice Karamat Nazir Bhandari redeemed his solemn pledge that the draft constitution would be ready by the end of April, 2005,” a PCB spokesman said.
“The proposed constitution will be discussed by the ad hoc committee on Monday (May 2) and submitted for the PCB Patron’s approval shortly thereafter,” the spokesman added.
