ISLAMABAD, April 27: The government has decided to appoint marketing officers in the four South American countries for exploring and identifying markets for the export of core products to these countries, a senior official told Dawn on Tuesday. The Pakistan’s ambassadors to Argentina, Mexico, Chile and Brazil have been asked to appoint four local nationals on contract basis with a task to identify potential markets for export of Pakistani products in these countries.
Secretary Commerce Tasneem Noorani talking to Dawn on Wednesday said that the decision was taken in the second envoy conference held in Sao Paulo, Brazil recently.
He said that it was observed that at the moment Pakistan could not be in a position to install trade offices in these countries therefore it was decided to initially appoint local people for market survey and exploration of markets for Pakistani products.
Mr Noorani said that Pakistani envoys to these countries had also been directed to arrange interaction of Pakistani trade chambers with their counterparts in these countries for increasing business to business contacts.
He said that the sports goods, surgical instruments and pharmaceuticals items had great potential to get maximum market share in these four South American countries.
