KARACHI: Lyari to get two more police stations

KARACHI, April 24: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui on Sunday announced that two more police stations would be created in Lyari. Addressing a press conference at Abdullah Shah Ghazi Rangers Headquarters, he said that the location for the two proposed police stations was being considered. He said that Lyari had been a hideout of gangsters, culprits and criminals for the last 30 years and no one, even the police, could challenge them. However, he said that the efforts of present government and excellent performance of the Rangers had made it possible for everyone to move freely there.

He said that people should cooperate with the law enforcing agencies in order to improve the law and order situation of the city.

Appreciating the efforts of Rangers, he said, “Rangers personnel had helped improving law and order in Karachi as well as other parts of Sindh.” He said that the excellent performance of Rangers had changed the situation of Lyari for which he announced to give prizes to the Jawans.

He said that Rangers had arrested seven bandits from Raees Goth and Yousuf Goth on Saturday and recovered 46,400 litre petrol and 2,000 litre engine oil from their possession. The estimated price of this stock was Rs15 million to Rs20 million. He said that the accused had offered the Rangers a bribe of Rs0.5 million. In joint efforts, he said, police and Rangers had arrested 71 suspects in one week.—PPI
