Girl students denied higher education

By Our Correspondent

NAROWAL, April 20: Hundreds of girls in the Narowal city could not get admission to ninth class this year as well because of shortage of high schools and other requisites. There are only two high schools for girls in the entire city having a population of 70,000. Worried about their daughters’ fate, scores of parents have charged the executive district officer (education) with non-cooperation in ensuring their admissions.

Some of the affected people have also lashed out at what, they said, displeasing attitude of the headmistress of the Government MB Girls High School. They even allege that the headmistress enrols girls of her own choice without any merit.

When contacted, EDO Riaz Cheema declined to comment on the issue.

The parents have demanded that Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi should take a serious notice of the situation and help the girls get education.
