KARACHI: Ideal arrangements for Eid Milad pledged


KARACHI, April 11: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that the month of Rabiul Awwal will be observed with all sanctity throughout the province and all programmes of Eid Miladun Nabi will be organized with traditional grandeur. Collective efforts would be made to maintain an atmosphere of love, unity, understanding, tolerance, harmony and reconciliation in order to receive the blessings and bounties of the holy month, he added.

The governor was talking to ulema at a high-level meeting held at the Governor’s House here on Monday. The meeting discussed arrangements for the observance of the Eid Miladun Nabi. He resolved that efforts would be made for far better arrangements this time as compared to the past.

He issued directives to the concerned authorities for improvement of procession routes and proper arrangements for water, electricity, sewerage disposal, etc.

He pointed out that all religious occasions and festivals in the province passed off with complete harmony due to the cooperation extended of ulema.

Replying to a question regarding the controversial ladies-gents marathons, the governor said there was no such programme planned to be held here. If such a programme was organized, due care would be taken of our religious, national and cultural traditions, he said, adding that guidance of ulema in this regard would be sought.

Those who attended the meeting were ministers Rauf Siddiqui and Manzoor Manhwar, Chief Secretary Aslam Sanjrani, ACS Mohammed Saleem Khan, Information Secretary Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, IGP Asad Jehangir, City Nazim Niamatullah Khan, city police chief and other officials. The ulema present at the meeting included Shah Turabul Haq Qadri, Haji Hanif Tayyab, Maulana Asad Thanvi, Maulana Iftikhar Bhatti, Maulana Razaul Mustafa, Shah Ferozuddin Rehmani, Allama Furqan Hyder Abidi, Maulana Ghulam Abbas Badami, Maulana Akram Qadri, Maulana Abrar Ahmed Rehmani, Maulana Khalilur Rehman Chishti, Mohammed Hussain Lakhani and Maulana Zakir Siddiqui.

SANITARY CONDITIONS: Sanitary conditions around mosques and the routes of processions on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi will be improved whereas staff will be deployed in all towns to attend sewerage and water supply complaints.

This was decided at a meeting held under the chairmanship of City Nazim Niamatullah Khan here on Monday. The meeting discussed measures towards facilitating observance of Eid Miladun Nabi in a befitting manner and matters pertaining to law and order on the occasion.

Ulema would be able to lodge their complaints by dialling ‘134’ and also at the control room of DCO office any time round-the-clock. Foolproof security steps would be taken on the occasion, the meeting was told.

Besides ulema, the meeting was attended by DCO Fazlur Rehman, KWSB MD, EDO (works and services), chief engineer (water and sewerage), town nazims, TMOs and officials of police, KESC, Civil Defence, Fire Brigade, Health and other departments.

The ulema who attended the meeting included Maulana Shah Turabul Haq, Haji Hanif Tayyab, Mohammed Imran Atari, Abrar Ahmed Rehmani, Abbas Qadri, Feroz Rehmani, Maulana Irshadul Haq Thanvi and Maulana Asad Thanvi.

The participants suggested various measures with regard to the observance of the Eid Milad.—APP
