KARACHI, April 10: Sindh Excise Police has seized high quality charas of more than Rs25 million here as part of its drive against narcotics. Adviser M.A. Jaleel during a press conference in his office here on Sunday, told that secret information was received by Director Excise, Sukkur, Abdul Haee Dhamrah and Provincial Intelligence Officer Excise Karachi, Najamul Hassan Wasti about a truck carrying huge quantity of charas, en route for Karachi from Balochistan.
A special team led by Inspector Mohammad Saleh Kerio after constant watch on all possible entrances intercepted a truck numbered QAC-7125 on the Hub River road near Naval Colony bus stop on Saturday night and seized 222kg charas, worth at least Rs25 million hidden in its secret cavities.
The truck driver Ameer Ahmed S/o Abdul Majeed was also arrested on the spot. Mr Jalil claimed that despite limited resources Sindh excise department enjoyed upper hand on the four federal government agencies working in Sindh for the same cause.
Later, Mr Jalil in presence of the concerned officials showed media the seized charas which was in the shape of bars and placed in small packets.—APP
