KARACHI, April 8: Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s founder Altaf Hussain and Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, who met in London on Thursday at MQM’s International Secretariat, have ruled out any possibility of a political change or imposition of governor’s rule in Sindh.

According to a press release issued by the MQM, the chief minister and the MQM chief also agreed to work out a common strategy for the forthcoming local bodies’ elections.

They discussed the overall political situation in the country, especially in Sindh, performance of the provincial government ad other issues of common interest.

They were of the view that the Sindh government was stable and enjoyed confidence of the people and there was neither any possibility of a political change nor of governor’s rule.

Mr Hussain, at the meeting, said that the people of Sindh had full confidence in the government and given it their mandate to fulfil their aspirations. “It is thus our duty to serve the people wholeheartedly and redress their grievances demonstrably.”

The chief minister said that despite conspiracies being hatched and hurdles being created by the opposition, the coalition would continue to work to solve the problems of the people and struggle for the progress and development of the province.

Before meeting Mr Hussain, the press release said, the Sindh chief minister discussed with the MQM Rabita Committee modalities of cooperation between the MQM and the PML in the context of local bodies’ elections.

“There was complete unanimity that the coalition partners would work as a team to promote the joint political mandate for the betterment of the province. The meeting took a number of decisions in this regard.”

The press release said that Dr Rahim remained at the MQM International Secretariat for about seven hours.
