ISLAMABAD, April 8: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has asked for the early restructuring of the Export Promotion Bureau to make it more vibrant and proactive organization. The prime minister was talking to EPB Chairman Tariq Ikram here on Thursday. The EPB chairman briefed the premier about the measures necessary for enhancement of exports. An official announcement said that the prime minister said that the EPB and the ministry of commerce should focus on diversification of export of goods and look for new markets to bring a visible increase in exports.
Mr Aziz asked for a concrete measures to explore market access for Pakistani products particularly in Japan, China and Russia.
He said that the EPB should work for achieving $14 billion in export instead of the target of $13.7 billion for the current fiscal year.
CHINESE TEAM: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has asked Chinese companies to make Pakistan as hub for exports due to its strategic location in the region.
The prime minister said this in a meeting with the chairman of Haier Group, a leading Chinese manufacturer of electronics, here on Thursday.
An official announcement said the prime minister emphasized that the government’s investment policies and facilities offer promising opportunities to Chinese companies.
They could develop joint ventures for export of electronics and light engineering goods to Middle East, Central Asia and South East Asia, the PM added.
The chairman Haier Group said that his group was interested to invest in automobile and real estate sector in Pakistan.
