WASHINGTON, April 8: US communications giant Motorola Inc on Friday launched an applied research laboratory in India’s high-tech hub Bangalore, as part of a plan to make the growing Asian nation its centre for engineering and product development. Motorola Labs India is the company’s 11th worldwide and first in India, augmenting Motorola’s existing Indian research and development infrastructure of more than 1,700 software engineers, the company said in a statement.
“This lab reflects our commitment to grow India as a strategic R and D hub for engineering and product development,” said Padmasree Warrior, Motorola’s executive vice president and chief technology officer.—AFP
