BAHAWALPUR, April 7: The district council demanded on Thursday exemption from the use of helmet in summer, and cut in prices of essentials and petrol. The demands were voiced at a meeting held here with Syed Owais Gardezi in the chair. The council said helmet became unbearable during the heat of the day. Therefore, the government should hold the condition of wearing of helmets by motorcyclists in abeyance till summer was over.

It said with the increase in the prices of petrol everything became expensive. The government should look into the matter. The council urged the food department to ensure supply of gunny bags on the personal surety to the growers who wanted to sell wheat to the department.

The members belonging to Ahmadpur East tehsil demanded upgrade of Uch Sharif as a tehsil headquarters and Channigoth as sub-tehsil.
