KARACHI : Seven arsonists remanded


KARACHI, April 2: As many as seven arsonists were remanded to police custody till April 4. Faizullah, Alamgir, Waris, Anwar, Mohammad Ashraf, Amir Khan and Bashar were arrested for arson and rioting and were produced before Justice Amir Hani Muslim of Sindh High Court who is also administrative judge of Anti Terrorism Courts ATCs in Karachi for obtaining the remand.

Police charged that the accused ransacked and set on fire vehicles of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation KESC offices parked at Block T North Nazimabad office in wake of a strike call given by Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (PONAM) on March 31.

The rioters were booked under Section 147,148,149,435,427 of PPC read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act. Forty-five persons were declared absconders in the FIR registered at Shahrah-i-Noor Jehan PS.

Remanding the accused to police custody, the AJ ordered that the complainant of the case also be presented on the next hearing.—PPI
