KARACHI : No work in city courts

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, April 2: Legal proceedings remained suspended on Saturday as people could not come to courts due to a remarkably low quantum of the public transport.

The City Courts premises wore a deserted look though judges and judicial magistrates turned up and authorities brought the under-trial prisoners from the Central Prison Karachi and Landhi Jail.

Even stamps vendors did not reach the city courts. Moreover, the two public canteens on the premises also remained shut.

The situation at the four anti-terrorism courts on the Queen’s Road and the accountability courts was not different either as lawyers and witnesses did not appear before courts.

The jail authorities said the court police took the required number of the UTPs to different courts. However, they said, the UTPS were brought back to prisons without their appearance in courts.

However, police produced suspects in the courts of different judicial magistrates for obtaining remands.
