Afghanistan seeks investment

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, April 1: Afghanistan International Chamber of Commerce President Hamid Qadari has said the expansion of trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan will strengthen economic ties between business communities of both the countries. Speaking at press conference here on Friday, Mr Qadari said the joint commission constituted by Pakistan and Afghanistan should accelerate its activity to boost economic relations between the two states. He suggested the formation of a permanent committee involving traders of both the countries and said that exchange of views between trade representatives would help resolve the problems faced by them. Mr Qadari invited Pakistani industrialists to invest in urban development, exploration of precious stones and construction of schools and hospitals. He said opportunities were also available for investment in power and energy sectors. The AICC president claimed that the percentage of taxes and excise and customs duties in Afghanistan was lower than other states of the world.
