Two buses set ablaze in Karachi

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 30: Arsonists set two buses on fire on Wednesday night in the Gulshan town. The incident appeared to be related to a call for strike on Thursday given by the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (Ponam). Officials at the Gulshan police station said unidentified protesters stopped a bus near Nipa Chowrangi, asked the passengers to get off and set it on fire. Officials at the Sharea Faisal police station said that shortly afterwards a bus was set on fire in another attack on the Dalmia Road. The chief fire officer, Mr Kazim Ali, told Dawn that fire engines were rushed to the Gulshan town along with police vans.
