HYDERABAD: Two held with stolen barrage rollers

HYDERABAD, March 30: The Jamshoro police have arrested two people and recovered rollers and other parts of the Kotri Barrage.

Darya Khan Mallah and Imtiaz alias Buroro Mallah were arrested for allegedly stealing 17 rollers of the barrage. The rollershad been stolen from a store near the bank of River Indus.

A case was registered against the accused, who are said to be relatives of irrigation employees.

Kotri Barrage chief engineer Manzoor Shaikh said he had directed the barrage superintending engineer to hold an inquiry whether irrigation employees were involved in the matter.

He said police had been asked to share investigation with irrigation officials in the matter.

He further said the component parts had been kept in the store for repairs.

SUSPENDED: During his surprise visits to some police stations on Tuesday night, the DPO suspended an ASI and two policemen for dereliction in duty.

Those suspended and sent to police headquarters were: ASI Mubarak Hussain and head munshi Koral Shah of the Pinyari police and head constable Noor Mohammad of the Baldia police.

The ASI was performing duties in civvies and his conduct with people present in the police station was not proper.
