KARACHI, March 30: The main procession on chehlum of Imam Hussain (AS) will begin from Nishtar Park and terminate at Hussainian Iranian Imambargah on Thursday.
The procession will be taken out from Nishtar Park at 1pm after a Majlis.
According to a press release of Central Police Office Karachi, the main procession will begin from Nishter Park, it will move on Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, Mehfil Shah-i-Khurasan, M.A. Jinnah Road, Manisfiled Street, Preedy Street, again M.A. Jinnah Road, Boulton Market, Bombay Bazaar, Kharadar, Nawab Mohabbat Khanji Road to Hussainian Iranian Imambargah.
As soon as the procession will start from Nistar Park, all vehicular traffic will be diverted on to Soldier Bazaar Road from M.A. Jinnah Road/Dawoodpota Road junction. All traffic on Soldier Bazar Road from its junction with Dr Dawoodpota Road upto its junction with Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Khan Road shall flow one way.
All buses, minibuses and trucks coming from Nazimabad will be diverted on to Nishtar Road towards Zoological Garden to reach their destinations.
All buses, minibuses, and trucks coming from Liaquatabad side will be diverted onto Martin Road towards jail side. These vehicles shall, however, be permitted to proceed up to jail and shall then proceed via Jamshed Road, Shahrah-i-Quaideen, Sharea Faisal up to Gora Qabristan and then via Mubarak Shaheed Road, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Dr Dawoodpota Road, Preedy Street to their normal route.
When the head of the procession reaches at the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road/Mansfield Street these vehicles shall proceed straight for 602 EME Workshop, Mubarak Shaheed Road, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Fatima Jinnah Road, Maulana Wafai Road (Old Stratchen Road), Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, M.A. Jinnah Road till the situation permits when these vehicles shall be diverted onto I.I. Chundrigar Road from the junction of Court Road/M.R. Kiyani Road.
Similarly, all buses and minibuses approaching the city from stadium side shall proceed via New M.A. Jinnah Road. These vehicles shall be diverted at Dada Bhoy Noorji Road towards Kashmir Road from its junction with New MA Jinnah Road/ Link Road behind the Quaid-i-Azam Mazar.
All trucks, buses and minibuses approaching from the Super Highway shall be diverted from Al-Azam Square towards Chowrangi No 2 Nazimabad and shall proceed along Estate Avenue Road, Sher Shah to Mauripur Road. For return journey, these vehicles shall proceed via the same route.
All buses, minibuses and trucks approaching from the National Highway shall proceed via Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Muhammad Sulaiman Road, Hassan Square, Liaquatabad No 10, Nazimabad Chowrangi No 2, Habib Bank, Manghopir Road, Estate Avenue Road to Sher Shah, Mauripur road. For return journey, these vehicles shall also adopt the same route.
All car traffic shall not be permitted to proceed towards the route of the procession from Guru Mandir roundabout. These vehicles shall be diverted onto Bahadur Yar Jang Road and again onto Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Khan Road. Under no circumstances, these vehicles shall be permitted to proceed along Soldier Bazaar Road from the junction of Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Khan Road/ Bahadur Yar Jang Road.
All car traffic coming from Quaid-i-Azam Mazar side along MA Jinnah Road will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road. No vehicular traffic will be permitted to proceed towards Numaish under any circumstances.
All cars approaching Numaish via Shahrah-i-Quaideen (except those arriving for participation in the procession having stickers pasted on their windscreens) shall not be allowed to proceed from the roundabout of Shahrah-i-Quaideen/ Link Road behind Mazar. No bus, minibus or truck will be permitted to proceed beyond this roundabout towards Numaish.
All traffic going towards Saddar and other colonies will not be permitted to proceed towards Empress Market from the junctions of (1) Preedy Street/Sarmad Road (2) Preedy Street/ MA Jinnah road, (3) Shahrah-i-Liaquat/ Court Road and (4) Shahrah-i-Liaquat/ Muhammad Bin Qasim Road when the head of the procession reaches near the crossing of MA Jinnah Road/ Mansfield Street.
Similarly, all vehicular traffic proceeding towards Saddar via M.A. Jinnah Road side shall not be permitted to proceed from its junction with Preedy Street and Agha Khan Road.
