Natwar accuses Pakistan of N-proliferation

By Jawed Naqvi

NEW DELHI, March 28: Indian Foreign Minister Kunwar Natwar Singh accused Pakistan on Monday of carrying out clandestine nuclear proliferation that brought heavy costs on New Delhi but he also blamed the international community for overlooking the threat instead of punishing Islamabad.

“The instances of onward proliferation which have come to light in the last two years and the growth and spread of international terrorism lend a sense of urgency to these discussions,” Mr Singh said at the start of a conference hosted by the international Pugwash group and the Indian Institute of Strategic Studies and Analyses.

The conference is being held a few weeks before the Seventh Review Conference of the Non-Proliferation Treaty begins in May.
