KARACHI, March 28: National chief selector Wasim Bari praised Pakistan team for winning the third and final Test to square the series 1-1.
“It is a great team effort in which every player played its part. When the team was announced everyone predicted that India will win the Test series. But we had faith in the boys and through sheer guts and determination were able to bounce back with a tremendous performance.
“It was magnificent comeback by Pakistan after losing badly in Kolkata,” he said.
Bari said it was refreshing to see Pakistan batting clicked and despite absence of speedsters Shoaib Akhtar and Shabbir Ahmed the bowlers performed wonderfully well.
He was specially delighted for Shahid Afridi who was included in the team despite reservations from various quarters that the charismatic cricketer was not a Test material.
“We the selectors had to face criticism for including Shahid Afridi but we are pleased that he silenced his detractors with great all-round performance,” Bari claimed.
