KARACHI : 3 suspected gangsters arrested

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, March 27: Three alleged accomplices of notorious ringleader Arshad Pappu were arrested in Kalakot on Sunday.

Sources said that an industrialist had a few days back received a call from someone identifying himself as Arshad Pappu and demanding Rs2 million as protection money. The industrialist alerted police who accompanied him when he went to deliver the money to the caller at a specified place located in Gul Mohammad Lane, Kalakot.

The police team, led by DSP Irfan Bahadur of the Industrial Crime Unit, arrested Waheed, Siddiq and Javed waiting for the man at the place. Police recovered TT pistols from the possession of Waheed and Siddiq and a klashnikov from Javed.

The police claimed that Arshad Pappu, his brother Arafat and another accomplice Mulla Sultan managed to flee.

The Kalakot police have registered a case 65/2005 against the suspects.

BODY FOUND: In Korangi, an unidentified bullet-riddled body was found.

Police said that unknown assailants had pumped a total of 13 bullets into the man, believed to be 35 years old. They said that many empties were found from the spot. Police shifted the body to hospital for autopsy. Following the post-mortem examination, the body was shifted to Edhi morgue for identification purpose.

SHOT DEAD: In Qasba Colony, unknown assailants shot dead a rickshaw driver.

Officials at Pirabad police station said that Samreen Khan, a resident of Teen Hati, had received six bullets. Police suspected personal enmity as the motive behind the killing.

A scuffle turned nasty in Pathan Colony when 25-year-old Asif fell victim to firing on Sunday.

Asif, a resident of North Nazimabad, had gone to Pathan Colony to visit his friend, Islam Shah. He was accompanied by a friend, Ali Mohammad Junejo, and a lady, whom locals suspected of not being his wife.

Site police said Asif’s uncle, Dr Mudassir Hussain, lodged an FIR 101/2005 against killers.
