KARACHI : Handing over of Hawkesbay scheme plots from mid-May
KARACHI, March 27: Handing over of the possession of plots in the Hawkesbay Scheme-42 under the Lyari Development Authority Project is starting from the second week of May as had been directed by Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad during his recent visit to the project site.
Pace of development work in Scheme-42 had been accelerated following the governor’s directives. The progress was reviewed at a meeting, chaired by Project Director Shafiqur Rehman Paracha, here on Sunday.
The meeting was informed that the Hawkesbay Scheme comprises a total of 71 sectors and balloting for 42,608 plots in 26 sectors had already been conducted.
They include 33,000 plots measuring 80/120 square yards allotted under the low-cost housing plan.
In the first phase of the process, possession of 10,000 plots in Sectors 28, 27, 12, 11 and 31 will be handed over to their allottees in May.
Reviewing the ongoing development works in various sectors, the meeting noted that as per the governor’s directive, construction of the roads connecting sectors 26, 27, 28, 28-A, 29, 30 and 32 with the main Hawkesbay Road had been completed. Seventy per cent work on the roads linking sectors 29, 30, 31, 32, 40, 41 and 42 had been completed while the remaining work would be completed in the next two months, it was told.
In Sector 42 of the scheme, the total number of plots is 610. In this sector, construction of 124.4-km-long road, 140, 100 and 60-feet-wide roads, as well as 70 per cent of sewerage disposal work, had been completed.
In Sector 12, the total number of plots is 4,313. After clearing the site of bushes, the survey and demarcation work in blocks A and D has completed while in Sector 12-C, work will be geared up with the removal of encroachments.
In Sector 26, where total number of plots is 1,778, bushes have been cleared and 50 per cent of survey and demolition work has been completed whereas road construction was under way.
Construction of 13.40 km roads in Sector 27, having 1,882 plots, has been completed along with the survey and demarcation work. In Sector 28, having 1,556 plots of 120 and 240 square yards, work on survey, demarcation and construction of 8.9-km roads has been completed.
The Sector 28-A has 880 plots and it has been cleared of jungle.
The Sector 30 has 1,076 plots and the work on jungle cutting, survey, demarcation and construction of 3.50-km roads has been completed.
Sector 31 has 1,681 plots and work on jungle cutting and 4.9-km roads has been completed while survey and demarcation work is in progress.
Sector 32 has 530 plots of 120 and 240 square yards. In this sector, cutting of jungle has completed while survey and demarcation work is in progress.
In Sector 40, 41 and 42, planning for development works is underway following completion of work on jungle cutting.
Development works in Sectors 16, 17 and 18 will also start soon.
Construction of main roads in Sectors 11 and 12, as well as electrification, has also been completed while plantation work there is fast going on.
The meeting was informed that in Sectors 3 and 3-A, earmarked for Journalists Society, work on sewerage lines and roads had been completed whereas the work on internal water supply was progressing fast.
It was stated that on the directive of Governor Ishratul Ibad, the plantation work in all the sectors had been geared up. About 1,000 plants have already been planted in the society whereas 1,000 more are being planted.
In all the sectors, huge signboards displaying plotting plan are being installed for guidance.
The meeting was informed that the construction of a double track 8.5-km-long road from Grax Village to Beach Avenue was under way and after its completion, the area would witness rapid development.
The allottees of Hawkesbay Scheme 42 have been invited to see by themselves the development work and the facilities being made available to them. They have also been advised
to immediately clear their dues and get possession of their plots.
After resettlement of the families affected by the Lyari Expressway project in sectors 6, 9 and 10 in the Scheme-42, all essential facilities, like water, sewerage, roads, education, transport, playground, shopping centre, parks etc., have been made available in the area.
The meeting also reviewed the development work at Beach Avenue Project and stressed on expediting the same. It expressed satisfaction over the process of computerizing the project’s records.
It was told that there was no case of double allotment in the project and a file of each allottee was being computerized. Planning for evolving a system for record protection as being maintained by the DHA was also under way, it was informed.
