CMC convocation held Healthcare system to be improved, says adviser

LARKANA, March 26: The adviser to the Sindh chief minister on health, Faisal Malik, has said the provincial government is committed to improve the healthcare delivery system. Speaking at the sixth convocation of the Chandka Medical College here on Saturday, he said the government was giving priority to education and health sectors. He hoped that graduates of the college would come up to expectation of people and provide better health services to the ailing humanity.He said the Sindh government would assist in creating new posts in new disciplines at the college and meet shortage of teaching staff in different disciplines. Mr Malik praised the college for producing talented doctors over three decades. He said the college had emerged as a centre for postgraduate training.Health secretary Prof Naushad A. Shaikh congratulated recipients of degrees, awards and medals. He gave an assurance that he would support approval of schemes for the college under the Annual Development Programme.Liaquat University of Medicines and Health Science Vice-Chancellor Prof Jan Mohammad Memon advised fresh graduates to give attention to research work. The registrar of the University of Sindh read a message of Vice-Chancellor Mazhar Ali Siddiqui.
CMC principal Prof Sikandar Ali Shaikh welcomed guests and highlighted performance of the college. He also talked about problems being faced by the college.
Silver and gold medals were awarded to position holders, including Sartaj Alam, Saima Jawaid, Mehboob Ali Dahani, Sajida Parveen, Adeel Miraj, Ashiq Ali, Saira Fatima, Nanik Ram, Nasarullah, Tania Sultan, Liaquat Mehmood Awan, Tehmina Mehar, Sania Shaikh, Khalid Mehmood, Awatif Qazi and Saira Mehmood.
Prof Shaikh also presented a shield to the adviser.
The adviser also gave shields and awards to members of the Academic Council, guests and position holders.
NFC AWARD: The issue of the National Finance Commission award would be resolved by June, said Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim.
He was talking to journalists after inaugurating a hospital and maternity home here the other day.
He said that law and order situation in the province was under control, excepting some incidents like the Rohri blast. He said that the incident was not related to the Balochistan crisis, some people had been arrested and reason behind the blast would be learnt soon.
About the controversy over the name of a district carved out of the Larkana district, the chief minister said that he needed some time to make a decision.
About the recovery of a boy, Aaqib Rajput, kidnapped from Lalu Raunk in Shahdadkot district, he directed RPO (Sukkur) Tariq Salim Lone to make hectic efforts in this regard.
Sindh Minister for Inter-Provincial Relations Dr Sohrab Sarki, Masood Ahmed Khuhro and others were present on the occasion.
