Man killed on resistance

SAHIWAL, March 26: Dacoits shot dead a man on resistance and looted the house of a former councillor in two hits here on Saturday. Reports said two bandits tried to loot Muhammad Tariq sleeping at a tube-well. On resistance, the outlaws opened fire killing him on the spot. Three gangsters entered the house of ex-councillor Muhammad Hanif, held hostage the family members and made off with jewellery and valuables worth Rs300,000. REPORT SOUGHT: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has sought a report from the inspector-general of police for not registering a robbery case. The Punjab IG ordered the Sahiwal DPO for the report who transferred Noor Shah SHO Sajjad Dogar and appointed Sarfraz Gilani as SHO.

Reports said some robbers deprived Muhammad Rafiq, a grower, of his motorcycle (SLK-5240) and cash worth Rs11,000 on Jan 11, 2005 near Chak 63/4-R. When Mr Rafiq approached the Noorshah police, SHO Sajjad Dogar allegedly refused to register the case. Muhammad Rafiq had appealed to the prime minister for the registration of the case. — Correspondent
