Murder probe questioned

By Our Correspondent

MIANWALI, March 26: Police have exonerated the nominated accused from the murder charge after taking a bribe of Rs0.5 million and challaned the people who are not the real killers. This was alleged by Asif Masood and Sarwer, the son and younger brother of the deceased, respectively, in a Press conference here on Saturday. They said that Taj Muhammad along with them was going to offer Friday prayers near the Mosque Gate when three motorcyclists in helmets had opened fire on them last month. As a result, they all sustained serious injuries. However, they said Taj Muhammad had recognized the attackers and had his statement recorded to the police before his death. When contacted, City SHO Ghulam Muhammad termed baseless the bribe charge and said that the nominated accused — Tariq Javaid, Ahmed Khan and Aamir Khan — were innocent. He claimed that the police had arrested the real culprits who had confessed to their crime. Meanwhile, deceased’s son and younger brother have urged the authorities concerned to order re-investigation of the case and appoint an honest police officer in this regard.
