KARACHI, March 23: Top seed Khalid Ali Nazeer booked his place in the final in the men’s singles when he fought off a spirited challenge by Nasir Mushtaq 6-2, 6-4, in the Sindh ranking tennis championship played on Wednesday.
Losing the first set 6-2, fifteen-year-old Nasir tried his level best to draw abreast 1-1 in the second set, but he sadly ended up on the losing side.
In another match, M. Manzeer reached the last four stage when he beat Ali Abdullah 6-4, 6-1.
However, Nasir had the satisfaction of reaching the boys Under-15 final beating his doubles partner Ghulam Abbas Panju 7-5, 6-2. The first set went the full distance with both players playing attacking tennis but Ghulam ran steam in the next set and surrendered the set and match 6-2. Nasir will now take on Jahangir Rashid, who had work hard in overcoming Zuhair Raza 6-4, 6-3.
Jahangir however gained some consolation when teaming up with Zuhair Raza made their entry into the doubles final, beating Ahsan and Sarmand 6-1, 6-3.
The men’s doubles saw Khalid vying for a double crown. Teaming up with Adnan Khan, the top seeds reached the final by beating Ali Hasan Bhagat and Yasir Khan in an exciting encounter 6-4, 6-4.

Boys singles semifinal: Nasir Mushaq bt Ghulam Abbas Panju 7-5, 6-2; Jahangir Rashid bt Zuhair Raza 6-4, 6-3.
Boys under-13 singles: Omer Shahid bt Ibrahim 6-0, 6-0.
Under-11 singles last round robin match: Khwaja Hamza bt Yasir Khan 6-4, 6-1.
Men’s doubles semifinals: Khalid Ali Nazar- Adnan Khan bt Ali Hassan Bhagat -Yasir Khan 6-4, 6-4.
