DADU: PPP demands end to operation

By Our Correspondent

DADU, March 23: The leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Mr Nisar Ahmad Khuhro, has demanded that the government should stop army operation in Balochistan and resolve the issue through political means.

Talking to journalists in Khairpur Nathan Shah on Wednesday, he said people of Balochistan were demanding their rights but the government was trying to suppress their voice through the operation. He maintained that army operation would have negative consequences for the country.

About the greater Thal canal and the Kalabagh dam, Mr Khuhro observed that Sindh was facing water shortage and construction of the projects would intensify the crisis.

He claimed that general elections would be held in 2005 and the People’s Party Parliamentarians would win the polls.

He said the law and order situation had deteriorated in Sindh due to wrong policies of the provincial government. He said people had a feeling of insecurity.

DROWNED: Ghulam Mustafa Solangi, 27, and Abdul Sattar Kalhoro, 30, drowned in a well the Dinpur village, Mehar taluka, on Wednesday.

Villagers recovered their bodies after hectic efforts.

NAIN GAJ: Water flow in Nain Gaj reached 10 feet on Wednesday following two days rains in Balochistan and the mountainous area of Sindh.
